Initial Brief- Study about the topic "Gender". Find a problem and come up with a design solution for the same.
What is Gender Stereotyping?
Gender stereotyping is reinforcing the gender ‘norms’ that society considers acceptable, usually based on the idea of masculinity and femininity.
Gender socialization often begins at birth, society expect females to behave in a submissive, dependent and emotional way while males are expected to be strong,
independent and stoic.
Research
I researched basic traditional gender stereotypes and gender identity development among children to better understand my target audience.

Posters in Children Hospitals
I chose to go forward with Disney characters by transforming their genders/roles/look and minimal messages for parents in my posters.
Why Disney Characters?
-
There is an evolution in the role of female characters, while men are still shown to be muscular.
-
Disney characters are familiar to both preschoolers and parents of infants to 6-year-olds.
